Gaisheda Kheakok Claims Her Eldership

Spring Equinox 2009

This Spring Equinox there was a buzz in the air of anticipation and excitement as people began to arrive and were smudged before entering the Sacred Circle. Much abundance was received during Imbolc and Spring Equinox was the chance for it to ground as we all united again.

When Gaisheda arrived she spoke of aspects of her journey in the preceding weeks and the messages she was receiving as she was being called to step into another level of her soul’s journey and claim her Eldership. In the Tribal Tradition usually we perceive Elders to be a certain physical age, but the title of Elder is given to an individual who embodies the Teachings and have earned their Medicine through life’s experiences. 
 

Our Drum Group began the Miq Maq Honour Song and the resonance of the heartbeat on our Grandmother drum connected each one of us in Her powerful embrace. The circle felt as if it was expanding out with every beat and with every round sung the energy deepened.  During the song, Gaisheda  Kheawok and Moon Beam did a special ceremony blessing the Pipe given to Gaisheda and honouring the 9 Directions and the Ancestors. The ceremony felt as though we were all being given the opportunity and the choice to embrace the “We” consciousness and acknowledge our responsibility to work together during these times. Through this ceremony in the Spring Equinox energy the love and wisdom of the Mother and our community dissolved the fear and apprehension and we stepped into a new rhythm together guided by the light and courage of our Elder Gaisheda Kheawok.
